Plan your adventure

Day 1 — Arrival

  • Arrive at Kadindi Village, where our colleague will assist with the check-in process at the homestay.

  • Overnight stay at the homestay to rest before the hike.

Day 2 — Hiking to Post 3

  • 07:30 AM – Motorbike (ojek) transfer to Tambora Village (the starting point at Post 0).

  • Begin the hike from Post 0.

  • The trek takes about 2.5 hours.

  • Along the trail, you’ll enjoy the fragrance of Tambora coffee blossoms, lush green coffee plantations, and the sound of birds throughout the forest.

((Post 1))

  • Take a 15-minute break at Post 1.

  • Enjoy fruit, snacks, and water before continuing the hike.

((Post 1 → Post 2))

  • Hiking time: approximately 2 hours.

  • At Post 2, the porter will prepare a simple lunch.

  • Rest and relax for about 1 hour before resuming.

((Post 2 → Post 3))

  • The trek takes about 3 hours.

  • Upon arrival at Post 3, set up camp and overnight stay before the summit climb.

Day 3 — Summit Attack & Return

  • 00:30 – 01:00 AM – Porter prepares an early breakfast (light meal with hot drinks).

  • 01:15 AM – Guests have breakfast and prepare gear.

  • 02:00 AM – Start the summit trek.

Summit

  • The climb from Post 3 to the summit takes about 3–4 hours.

  • Reach the summit of Mount Tambora (±2,850 masl), and enjoy the breathtaking sunrise and the panoramic view of Tambora’s giant caldera.

  • After enjoying the summit, descend back to Post 3, then continue down to Post 0 (a full day of descent).

  • In the late afternoon/evening, return to Kadindi Village.

  • Overnight stay at the homestay or continue the journey according to guest’s next plan.
